Organisation

I have explored potential sound effects so that when it comes to actually collecting the sounds when editing the trailer, we will have an idea of what we are looking for.

Organisation

I have looked into horror movies which feature a dripping tap due to the fact we are having a shot of a tap dripping slowly in our trailer. I have uploaded the raw footage here to show evidence of our filming and am going to edit it to try and achieve a scarier effect for example, reducing the brightness or slowing down the shot to create a slow motion effect.

Along with editing the shot's lighting etc using editing software I am going to have to add sounds which are running along side the trailer to reach full potential. To find sounds I have looked on:

Other sound effects we are going to need are:
An engaged phone
Dialling sounds
Some sort of crash/bang
Chains
Heavy breathing

Planning

I have created an analysis of my template movie poster and an analysis of a poster of a similar genre. The poster is not a horror film however it is a series which is in the thriller genre. It is showing a very similar concept to mine so I felt that by creating an analysis I will be able to self assess my work a lot easier as it will be a lot clearer as to which parts are looking effective and which parts aren't.

Planning

This is one of the most effective photos out of all of the ones which we had taken. I am looking into a way in which the picture can be interpreted. For example drawn, or edited on a computer so that it looks similar to the covers featured on Little White Lies.

Planning

Hannah and I looked at different ways im which we can make the editing look effective. We also wanted to make sure that the trailer flows well so looked at trailers to see ways in which the edit the shots to make sure transitions are smooth. For example 'The Call' uses 911 calls as the theme and we have interpreted this to suit our main theme. We are planning on replaying the girls 999 calls at the beginning of the trailer and also at crucial parts of the trailer. I feel like this will be effective as it will reveal the panicked state which the girl is in however it may give subtle hints (from the response of the 999 operaters reactions to her 2nd and 3rd calls) that something is not quite right.

Drafting

After putting the photo with the actual poster there were a lot of things which I found I wanted to change, For example the film name font had to changed as it was taking focus away from the picture. I also wanted to aim for something a lot more minimalistic. Things which have been taken away have been actor/actresses names as I am going to include them in a directors block which I need to create for along the bottom. I kept the main heading and tag line in black however I decided to change certain things such as 'Inspired by real life events'  and the fonts close to the edges to a white font as I felt it contrasted and gave the poster something which made it stand out rather than everything being in black.  The outside edges of the poster are also darker due to the effects and filters used which meant that black fonts where blending in too much in these areas.

These are the photos which we have taken for our magazine and movie posters. We have tried to make the character look tired and worn out. Some shots are better than other however there is a lot to work with which will enable us to see which are more effective photos than others.

Organisation

We did a couple of test shots on my Iphone before we took the actual shots for our magazine cover and film poster. These were just basic images to show what the characters were going to look like before filming and taking the actual shots.

Drafting

I have changed some things on my poster as I didn't think the previous one looked realistic and realised that an upcoming film wouldn't have 'Best London Film' awards if it hadn't come out already. I have left space in between the main actor/actress names and 'from the makers of' so that I can fit in a directors block. I have moved the film name down to the bottom of the page and kept the tagline underneath. I have added a date of the films release and a 'universal' logo.

Drafting

Little White Lies magazine never features actual images, they are always pictorial representations of the featured film or cover star. I have edited the same photo a few times to try and test different ways in which I can 'cartoonize' and edit the image so that it fits with the conventions of LWL magazine. My main aim for the magazine cover is for the image to look as if it is actually an issue.

This is somebody elses interpretation of a little white lies which  I particularly like. There are two of my edited photos which are similar to this.

Drafting

I have added 'Inspired by real life events' to the top of my movie poster. This may attract an audience more due to the fact it makes the film seem a lot more eery and interesting which may entice the audience.

I have moved the tagline up underneath the film name in response to the feedback I recieved on twitter. However I don't feel that it works better because it looks as if there is a bit too much going on. It could also be mistaken for an extension of the film name which is something I don't want. The focus is brought to the very top of the poster when the tagline is up here however I want the focus to be shifted across the whole poster rather than in certain positions.

Planning

These are all actresses that have worked within the horror/thriller genre. I am going to use these images to give my actress some inspiration as she genuinely needs to look scared so that the trailer is effective.

Planning

We have thought about a few different endings for our trailer however we have had no ideas which have been great. I have researched into horror trailers again however this time I have only looked at the final parts of the trailer so that I can get some inspiration. The ending needs to give away just enough so that the audience still want to go and see the movie but on the other hand it cant give away too much because then there will be nothing left to reveal when it comes to the actual film. When looking through horror trailer endings I was looking for something gripping and interesting.

At the end of all these trailer there is a burst of action which is obviously something which horror trailer particularly feature. These bursts of action provide the audience with parts of the film that they are not expecting to see. 'Identity' flicks through various different parts which is effective however it is something which we have already decided to do in earlier parts of our trailer.

Organisation

We have been thinking about props etc which we are going to use when we film. For example we need something resemble medication for the main character. I have done some research and looked at some examples of things we could use. For example, sweets such as 'palma violets' or 'tic tacs' could be used as they are similarly shaped to some tablets.

Target Audience

I have also posted my template of my magazine cover onto twitter for feedback. A response says that the font and layout are good however if the background picture is dark, seeing as it is for a horror movie, maybe the font could be made white. I will experiment the different suggestions and make a comparison along with my movie poster.
